CHOIR NEWS

On Wednesday, September 15 at 7:15 PM the Galilee Choir will resume rehearsing the 2010 Christmas program! All are invited to join in the fun as we learn new music for fall and winter. No previous experience is required, just a desire to sing in praise to God. We are all learning new things about singing and about music every week and we welcome new members.

Choir rehearsals are held on Wednesdays at 7:15 PM. Please contact Jo Ann French (651-642-1641 or jfrench.galilee@cpinternet.com) for more information.

GLOW

GLOW (Galilee Live on Wednesday) will resume on September 22 from 5:30 to 7:30 PM. During that time children and adults from the neighborhood gather with members of Galilee for a meal, Bible story, crafts, and games. Everyone is invited to join in with GLOW on any Wednesday. Come and participate in this exciting program!

If you are able to donate food for the meals served at GLOW, please put down your name on the sign-up sheet in the binder in the kiosk. Thank you for your support of GLOW through your donations and prayers.

Please take note: the GLOW Planning Team will meet on Tuesday, September 7 at 6:30 PM.

50th ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION

Sunday - May 2, 2010 (view pictures)

Galilee 50th Anniversary Logo

The theme of Galilee’s 50th Anniversary celebration is “Led by the Spirit - Walking in the Light” inspired by Micah 6:8.

A dinner and program was held on Saturday, May 1. Harpist Jann Stein performed during the dinner, which was followed by a brief program. In addition to Bishop Peter Rogness, several pastors who have served Galilee shared remarks, including Tom Schultz, John Engstrom, Richard Carlson, Michael Hanson and Ralph Baumgartner. 140 people attended the dinner. A copy of the Dinner Program is posted for you to review.

Bishop Rogness was the guest preacher during the worship service on Sunday, May 2. The Galilee Choir, including current and former members of Galilee, sang a choral piece commissioned from composer John Helgen. After the worship service, the new steeple and carillon bells was dedicated, followed by a reception.

Thanks to the 50th Anniversary Planning Committee for coordinating this special event: Sharell Babin, Pastor Ralph Baumgartner, Jo Ann French, Karen Groebner, Annette Haukebo, Lorrie Hayne, Sue & Carl Nelson, Miriam & Ron Peterson and Dan Simundson. Many other people volunteered to help during the weekend and we appreciate all of their efforts.

DAILY BREAD

This Galilee spiritual growth initiative began on May 23, 2010 and will continue through the end of the year. Join us as we grow in our faith together. More information is available on the Galilee Worship page.

MISSING TABLES

We have received several requests to borrow tables and chairs for graduations, garage sales, anniversaries, etc. We have four white plastic tables and two brown tables that may be borrowed for these outside functions.

Presently one white table and one brown table are missing. If you have borrowed any of these tables, please return them promptly so they are available for other church members to use. It is church policy not to lend out our new tables for these functions.

FIRST COMMUNION

If you know of any children who are ready to receive their first communion, please contact Pastor Ralph. According to the guidelines approved by the church council, children may receive their first communion when they desire to do so along with the approval of their parents. Both the child and at least one parent will meet with Pastor Ralph for orientation and preparation before receiving the sacrament. Please contact Pastor Ralph if you are interested or if you have any questions 651-488-6769 (church office), or 651-260-0669 (cell phone).
